February, 2013

Overnight on Friday, February 15, it snowed on the mountain, so that the ground was lightly covered and every branch of each tree was delicately outlined in white. But, this winter wonderland was limited to the altitudes above Route 7! We have our own micro-climate at Twin Oaks, which includes snow, when no one else has it, and fog – lots of it – on winter nights. I am always glad to see all the lights of Twin Oaks Tavern when I drive home on dark foggy nights.

Even now, the days are getting longer and we are bottling and getting ready for winter pruning, which I will tell you more about in the next blog. The 2012 wines will soon be available. We just introduced our new Twin Oaks Raspberry Wine and soon, our TOTW Chardonnay will be out. Next will be the TOTW Norton, then our Merlot, then the Raven Rocks Red. One of the great winter favorites has been our mulled wine, which is a combination of our Raven Rocks Red, our Cabernet Sauvignon and mulling spices – a really cheery drink on a cold winter day.

Join us at the wine tasting room for live music on Saturdays and our new program – “Music on Sunday” – where local musicians can visit and play their guitars or play our 150 year old square grand piano!

See you soon,

Donna Evers
